Hi, my name's Thalia! I'm a wedding photographer, coffee enthusiast and The Office show lover based out of Patchogue NY. The things that spark joy for me are serving people, celebrating life with those around me and of course documenting it all with my camera. When I'm not taking photos, most days you can find me enjoying coffee I made with my legit espresso machine and trying to create latte art. Emphasis on *trying*! In October of 2019, I said my own vows and was on the other side of all the wedding action. Which felt so strange! But I’m so glad I have both experiences to help other engaged couples. It was the BEST day ever, marriage is awesome! I’ve been a photographer for 6+ years, although it wasn’t until 2020 that I became a full time photographer. Gratefully, I have some awesome clients that have helped me grow my little creative hobby into the photography business it is today.
The Wedding Industry
My first camera was a Polaroid that I got for my 10th birthday. I immediately loved how I got to document everything and everyone onto those little squares of paper film. I still have those photos today! My desire to document everything grew as I got older. I was always an art kid so I easily gravitated towards creativity and visual art. I began to view the world differently, taking photos of certain things and fleeting moments because they were really beautiful to me. Taking those photos was how I expressed myself to the world and I wanted to show others the beauty of things that may have otherwise gone unnoticed. I knew they needed to be captured to be remembered someday. And that my friends, is how I got into the wedding industry! Weddings are days FULL of beautiful details and intimate fleeting moments that NEED to be documented to be remembered some day. I've taken photos of a father lovingly gazing at his daughter on her wedding day, which have brought them to tears seeing that photo! Nothing brings me more joy then knowing my couples will bust out their wedding photos and album every time there's a family gathering, laughing and tearing up at the good memories.
The Wedding Memories
One wedding in particular was super sweet. It was already set with plans, but then the world shut down in 2020. My couple proceeded to have their backyard wedding in the midst of it. The day was full of emotions. Especially since the bride's matron of honor, who was her sister, found out the week of the wedding that she couldn't make it due to the travel ban. It was heartbreaking. But the reason why I am highlighting this couple is because even though it wasn't what was expected, they still made the most out of it. They were so kind, so hopeful and they had so much fun! Her father looked at her beautifully the whole day. His mom gave the most beautiful speech about her new daughter in law. While shooting the wedding, they made me feel like family with their amazing hospitality which I really appreciate. They even gave me the sweetest little gift at the end of the night. It was a Dundie Award, and it said " Did I Shutter?". If you're an Office fan, then you know what I mean! This couple represents what love and marriage is and I had the greatest time capturing their love, their family and their memories.
I know brides are scrolling through Pinterest trying to figure out how to look amazing for their wedding. So I'm here to tell you that I'm the photographer for the giggly in love even if they're camera shy. For the ones who are different and wanna bend the traditional wedding rules! I specialize in showcasing a warm, natural and romantic feel to my work and believe in authenticity; allowing my couples’ genuine personalities to shine through out the wedding day while making sure they look GOOD. I'm also happy to guide couples in planning for their wedding while providing recommendations, helpful tips and more.
I was always into photography but at the time of graduating high school in 2012, I wasn't confident in pursing that let alone make it into a career. So I went to college for social work. It wasn't until 2015 that I made the big decision to transfer out of social work into studying visual arts. I wanted to be a creative director at a design agency one day. I was still doing photography on the side and by 2016 I had a few weddings under my belt. I realized that I loved shooting them! I graduated with my BFA in visual art but still felt a little lost since I no longer wanted to become a creative director. I loved photography but I never thought I could turn it into a full on career until 2019. I decided then that I wanted to be an entrepreneur and do what I loved to do full time. I worked really hard to turn that into a reality and in 2020 I became full time! It's been an incredible journey and I can't wait to see where this takes me and what I'll do next!
