A Hamptons boat crash has left a mom and Bride of Long Island critically injured.
On May 25, BOLI Brooke Skrocki, her fiancé, and their two young daughters were onboard a fishing boat that crashed into the Shinnecock Canal jetty. While Skrocki’s daughters Emma, 6, and Ava, 2, were not harmed, Skrocki was left with severe injuries and faces a long road to recovery.
“She’s looking at a year of intensive rehabilitation and will require considerable support,” Skrocki’s aunt, Melissa Barravecchio, said in a GoFundMe she established for her niece. “Brooke’s progress…has taken some steps backward but the family is holding strong that she will continue to fight. We need all the prayers we can get to help send Brooke the strength she needs to heal.”
Skrocki is described as “the sweetest soul and the best mom” by friend Alexa Licciardi. Similar sentiments were shared across social media as those in her circle learned of the accident.
“Skrocki was a huge part of my childhood,” said Riley Werner in a Facebook post. “She feels like a bonus sister to me. Anyone that knows her knows she lights up any room she’s in.”
In addition to Barravecchio’s GoFundMe campaign, Skrocki’s cousin Kristina Gries has started a Giveinkind fundraiser to support Emma and Ava during their mother’s recovery.
