Introduction

Hey! I'm Kirstyn, and I like to describe myself as a seamstress to the modern bride and her party. I got my start in college with costume design for theater and soon after found my way into bridal and never looked back. I've heard that you're either in the bridal industry for 5 minutes or a lifetime, and well...I'm a lifer. After 10+ years of gaining experience in all areas of the bridal industry while sewing at home on the side to make a little bit of extra money, I recently took a huge leap of faith and started my business full-time. I put my home studio to good use as it allows me to be more present with my family which I have never really been able to do before. I love meeting new people, hearing about their weddings, and working with them to help bring their bridal visions to life. I'm here to create a relaxed & positive alterations experience that will have you feeling confident and ready for your big day.

Specialization

Here at Bridal Alterations Studio, your experience is tailored to you, as well as your gown. I understand and appreciate that every bride, mom and bridesmaid are different and work diligently to make your gown just as special as you. I work closely with you to ensure that the process of turning your gown into a custom-fitted piece is enjoyable, fun and most importantly relaxing and stress free. I also specialize in accessories. If you want to wear your moms veil as your something old and borrowed, I will work with you to reimagine and modernize your new headpiece and veil.

FAQs

When should I book my appointment? As soon as you order your gown. It is never too early to plan ahead to make sure that you get the time and date that works best for you. I like to start the alterations process 8-10 weeks before the wedding for a bride, 6-8 weeks before if your a mom or bridesmaid. How many fittings will I have? A bride will have 2 fittings and a pick up appointment, although more fittings are sometimes necessary. Any special occasion (mom and bridesmaid) will have 1 appointment and a pick up appointment. What should I bring with me to my fittings? There are 3 things that you will need to bring, your gown, the shoes you are wearing on the wedding day and any undergarments you plan to wear with your gown. Although Spanx are not necessary you can opt for a lightweight boy short to smooth everything out. How do I book an appointment with you? To book an appointment, please fill out the inquiry form on my website and I will reach out with a link to book your appointment. How much do alterations cost? There is no minimum or maximum cost for alterations as it is impossible to guess a cost over the phone or email without seeing the actual gown on you in person. Generally, alterations fall between $450 and $650 depending on the complexity of the gown and work that is needed. Any customizations are additional. Where are you located? I currently work out of my home studio. I have a separate space in my home to conduct fittings, although if you are here in the evening, you might see a curious little boy looking through the door to see what we are doing.

Personal Hobbies

I love being with my family. Anytime that I get to spend with them I soak up every second with them, they're only little for so long. I also love to get my nails done. You can see that I always have some sort of fun design on my nails when you come for your appointments. I also really love sewing, this is not just a job for me, this is my passion. I love deconstructing and putting a gown back together and when a bride puts her gown on and its perfect after one fit, it's a chefs kiss.

Kirstyn did a beautiful job on my wedding gown. She was very professional and a joy to work with. She explained different kinds of bustles and what would work best with my specific dress. I was so pleased with the outcome!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND. I used Kirstyn for my MOH dress that needed to be altered. She did an amazing job and is extremely professional and nice. I was so happy with Kirstyn for my MOH dress that I used her again for my rehearsal dinner dress. I will absolutely be using her for my own wedding alterations. I cannot recommend her enough!

After going to my first wedding dress seamstress whom refused to make my sleeves more fitted on my gown, I came across Kirstyn. She was able to take my dress about a month and a half before my wedding to fit my sleeves and fix my bustle. She understood exactly what I wanted and my dress looked amazing on my wedding day. Her prices were also very fair and she completed my alterations in a timely manner! I will definitely use Kirstyn for any alterations I need for future events and would recommend her to any bride! Thank you Kirstyn for making me look like the most beautiful bride!

Kirstyn came into my wedding story right as I was waiting for my biopsy results. When I found out it was breast cancer she was one of the key people who made me feel like I could still have the wedding day of my dreams. She was ultra accommodating, working my fittings around my chemotherapy schedule and she always made me feel excited to see my dress again. This woman has vision and is just pure magic. She turned my dress into the leafy button sleeved lord of the rings fantasy I had always dreamed of. She even sewed in a pink bow to honor my breast cancer battle and also sewed in “something blue” too. This dress survived the kiss, the car, the first dance, the photos, the cake and all things in between. Oh, and that bustle - pure wizardry! I honestly have not seen anything like it before. I am so lucky to have connected with Kirstyn so that I could walk down that aisle feeling beautiful and confident during such a stressful time. She is truly a compassionate, caring, visionary professional and if you are reading this because you are considering alterations - look no further!
