Introduction

For over 20 years, Andrew “SaxyAndrewG” Grossbard has been creating unforgettable musical experiences for weddings and celebrations throughout Long Island, New York City, the tri-state area, and beyond. With more than 2,000 events performed throughout his career, Andrew brings the experience, professionalism, energy, and versatility that today’s couples are looking for when choosing entertainment for one of the most important days of their lives.

As a Brides of Long Island Preferred Vendor, Andrew’s passion has always been rooted in one thing: creating an exceptional wedding experience and memories that couples and their guests will cherish long after the last song has ended. From elegant cocktail hours and romantic wedding moments to high-energy dance floors, his live saxophone performance seamlessly blends sophistication with the excitement of today’s most popular music.

Andrew has had the privilege of performing with nearly every major DJ entertainment company based on Long Island, giving him a unique understanding of how to work alongside DJs and MCs to enhance—not compete with—the entertainment already planned for your wedding. His ability to read the room, interact with guests, and seamlessly complement the flow of an event allows him to create a live music experience that feels completely natural and personalized to each couple.

His musical versatility is backed by an extensive professional career. Andrew has briefly toured with the World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra and is a founding owner/member of both Water Colors Smooth Jazz, a Long Island-based smooth jazz ensemble, and the Long Island Sound Big Band. These experiences have helped shape the polished, versatile musician he is today—equally comfortable providing elegant background music during cocktail hour or bringing an electrifying live saxophone presence to the dance floor.

Based on Long Island, Andrew has performed at weddings, private events, corporate functions, and luxury celebrations throughout Nassau and Suffolk Counties, New York City, the tri-state area, and destinations across the country, as well as internationally, including performances in Florence, Italy.

Whether you envision sophisticated live saxophone during cocktail hour, a romantic musical touch during your special moments, or an energetic performance alongside your DJ that gets your guests on the dance floor, SaxyAndrewG works closely with each couple and their entertainment team to create a seamless experience tailored to their vision.

Your wedding day only happens once. Andrew’s goal is to make the music—and the memories it creates—something you and your guests will never forget.

The Wedding Industry

I’ve always loved the way music can completely change the atmosphere of a room, and there’s no better place to experience that than at a wedding. I got into the wedding industry because I wanted to use my saxophone to create those unforgettable moments that couples and their guests will remember long after the last song is played.

What I love most about performing at weddings is seeing the reaction on people’s faces when they hear a song they love performed live on saxophone. Whether it’s setting the mood during cocktail hour, adding elegance to dinner, or getting everyone on the dance floor, I love being part of such an important day in people’s lives.

Every wedding is different, and I never take for granted that I’m being trusted to help make someone’s special day even more memorable.

The Wedding Memories

One of my favorite things about performing weddings is that the most memorable moments are often completely spontaneous.

I’ve had couples and guests come up to me during or after a performance to tell me that a particular song brought back a special memory, reminded them of a loved one, or was “their song.” Those moments always stand out to me because they’re a reminder that I’m not just playing music—I’m helping create memories.

One of my favorite moments is when a couple walks into their cocktail hour or reception and immediately lights up when they hear live saxophone. Seeing that excitement and knowing that I’m helping set the tone for their celebration is incredibly rewarding.

After performing at weddings for many years, I’ve learned that the little moments often become the moments people remember most.

Specialization

I specialize in live saxophone entertainment for weddings, luxury events, cocktail hours, dinners, private parties, corporate events, restaurants, and nightlife.

For weddings specifically, I specialize in creating an elegant, high-energy live music experience that can seamlessly fit into different parts of the day. I can provide sophisticated jazz and smooth sounds for cocktail hour and dinner, while also bringing a more upbeat, energetic style to the dance floor when the party gets going.

My goal is to complement the DJ, band, venue, and overall atmosphere—not compete with it. I work closely with the entertainment team and read the room so the saxophone feels like a natural part of the celebration.

I also pride myself on being professional, flexible, easy to work with, and dressed appropriately for the occasion.

Company History

Saxy Andrew G is the culmination of more than 20 years of performing, touring, and entertaining with the saxophone.

I started playing saxophone at a young age and quickly fell in love with jazz, live performance, and the energy of performing for an audience. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to perform with the World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra, Princess Cruises, numerous DJ entertainment companies, and my own Long Island-based ensembles.

After spending so many years performing at weddings and events, I realized there was an opportunity to create something that was uniquely my own. That’s how Saxy Andrew G was born—a personal brand built around bringing live saxophone directly to the people celebrating their biggest moments.

The name is pretty simple: I’m Andrew, I play saxophone, and eventually “Saxy Andrew G” just stuck!

Today, my goal is to continue building Saxy Andrew G into one of Long Island’s go-to live saxophone entertainment experiences for weddings and luxury events. I want every couple who books me to feel confident that they’re getting not only a great musician, but someone who genuinely cares about making their celebration special.

FAQs

Do you play during cocktail hour?

Absolutely! Cocktail hour is one of my favorite parts of a wedding to perform. Live saxophone adds an elegant, sophisticated atmosphere while guests mingle, enjoy drinks, and take photos.

What if we want something elegant and relaxed during cocktail hour, but more upbeat later?

That’s exactly where I feel a live saxophonist can make a huge difference. I’m not locked into one style or energy level. I can keep things smooth and sophisticated during cocktail hour and dinner, then turn up the energy when it’s time to celebrate. I’m constantly listening and watching what’s happening around me so the music matches the moment.

Do you take requests?

Absolutely! I’m always happy to discuss songs that are meaningful to you. At the same time, one of my biggest strengths as a live performer is being able to read the room and adapt in real time. I pay attention to the energy of the guests and the flow of the wedding and adjust my playing accordingly.

Can you play during dinner?

Yes! Live saxophone during dinner is a great way to create an upscale atmosphere without overpowering conversations. I can play everything from classic jazz standards to smooth jazz and tasteful versions of familiar songs.

Do you perform with a DJ?

Yes! This is one of my specialties. I regularly perform alongside DJs and can play live saxophone over their music to add an exciting, interactive element to the dance floor. I’m able to listen to what the DJ is playing, find the right moments to come in, and improvise over the music to create something exciting and unique. I’m also very comfortable communicating with DJs and other entertainment professionals so everyone is working together rather than competing for attention.

Can you play songs that we request?

Absolutely. I’m happy to discuss special song requests and important songs that have meaning to you as a couple.

How far do you travel?

I’m based on Long Island and regularly perform throughout Long Island, New York City, New Jersey, and beyond. If you have a wedding outside the area, feel free to reach out and ask!

Do you only play jazz?

Jazz is a major part of my musical background, but my repertoire goes far beyond traditional jazz. I perform everything from classic standards and smooth jazz to pop, dance, R&B, and current favorites, depending on the atmosphere and type of event. The goal isn’t simply to play what I personally like—it’s to play what works for your wedding.

How do you know what to play?

I read the room. Every wedding has its own personality, and every crowd responds differently. I pay attention to the guests, the atmosphere, the DJ or band, the pace of the event, and what’s happening on the dance floor. Sometimes the perfect choice is a romantic jazz standard, sometimes it’s a familiar pop song, and sometimes it’s simply knowing when to step back and let the moment happen.

Can we tell you exactly what we want you to play?

Of course! Your wedding should feel like your wedding. I’m happy to discuss specific songs, styles, and moments that are important to you. I also bring years of experience to the table, so you can trust me to make musical decisions in the moment when something spontaneous happens.

Can you perform at different parts of the wedding?

Definitely. I can perform during cocktail hour, dinner, the reception, or multiple portions of the day. We can customize the performance around your timeline and entertainment plans.

What makes live saxophone different from simply playing music through a speaker?

A live musician can react to the room in a way a playlist can’t. I can change my energy, phrasing, volume, and style based on what I’m seeing and hearing in real time. Sometimes I’ll stretch out a musical moment because the crowd is loving it, or change the intensity because the room calls for something more subtle. That interaction is what makes live saxophone special.

Will you be professional and easy to work with?

Absolutely. I understand that couples are coordinating a lot of moving pieces on their wedding day. My goal is to make the entertainment portion easy and stress-free. I communicate with couples, DJs, planners, venues, and other vendors professionally and arrive prepared so you can focus on enjoying your day.

Do you have liability insurance?

Yes. I am fully insured with liability coverage, giving you and your venue added peace of mind. I'm happy to provide a Certificate of Insurance (COI) upon request.

How do we check your availability?

The easiest way is to visit my website and submit an event inquiry. I’ll get back to you with availability and details about your event.

Personal Hobbies

When I’m not playing saxophone or working on Saxy Andrew G, I love spending as much time as possible with my family. Family time is definitely my favorite way to recharge.

I also enjoy swimming, playing pickleball, traveling, and going to live music shows. Even when I’m not the one on stage, I still love experiencing live music and seeing other musicians perform.

I’m a pretty easygoing person outside of work, and I think that carries over into how I approach weddings. I love meeting new people, making people smile, and being part of a great celebration.

So if you see me at your wedding and want to talk music, travel, pickleball, or just share a funny wedding story, come say hello.

Additional Info

Your wedding isn’t a concert—and that’s exactly why I love performing weddings.

My job isn’t simply to show up, play saxophone, and leave. My goal is to become part of the atmosphere you’ve created for your wedding and help make each part of the celebration feel special.

After more than 20 years as a professional saxophonist, I’ve learned that every wedding and every crowd is different. Some couples want sophisticated jazz during cocktail hour. Others want smooth saxophone during dinner. Some want me to join the DJ and help turn the dance floor into a party. Many want a combination of all three.

I’m comfortable with all of it.

One of the biggest compliments I receive is that I know how to read the room. I’m constantly paying attention to the energy of the guests and adapting my playing to fit the moment. I know when to be subtle and elegant, when to step forward, and when to bring the energy up and get people dancing.

I also understand that your wedding is about much more than the music. It’s about the experience. I want you to feel comfortable knowing that you have a professional musician who is prepared, flexible, personable, and genuinely invested in helping make your wedding memorable.

I’ve had the privilege of performing at weddings and events for many years, including working with some of the most respected entertainment companies and DJs in the industry. That experience has taught me how to work within a larger entertainment team while still bringing something unique to the celebration.

Ultimately, I want couples to look back at their wedding and remember more than just hearing a saxophone. I want them to remember the feeling—the excitement, the elegance, the energy, and those spontaneous moments when everyone in the room was having an incredible time.

That’s what Saxy Andrew G is all about.

His command of the instrument is unreal. The sound, the control, the way he reads the room and elevates the energy is something you can’t teach. It’s presence. It’s mastery. His overall skill set is top-tier, his presence is commanding, and his professionalism is unmatched. When Andrew G shows up, you’re not just getting music—you’re getting a full experience.

Music was a huge priority for my husband and I’s wedding and having a saxophonist was a MUST— they always elevate the dance floor of any wedding. We had Andrew perform for our wedding and he was incredible! He is so talented and was able to integrate his skills seamlessly into any type of song and genre. Our guests LOVED him; one of them was a saxophonist himself and told us that Andrew was his new idol. Book Andrew for your wedding! You won’t regret it.
